Friday!!

We survived the week!! Everything is going great! Will post more this weekend. For now, we are going to enjoy a glass of wine and make some dinner.

Chicago Lab- First Day

Our first week at the new lab was a big success!! It felt good to be able to jump right in and help out on the second day. It's a very different world but I feel as though it leans more towards chemistry than my old department did.

Support from home

Our first week here was a VERY long week. There came a moment when we almost packed it up and headed back to Georgia. I've never been tried like I had been last week.

I want to say a very big THANK YOU for all the calls, texts, e-mails and love from home. Yes, I cried every day because I was so frustrated and scared. It truly meant a lot to know that we had love and support no matter what the decision was.

The First Supper

By Wednesday, most of the boxes were out of my car and I started to get comfortable and settled. I debated on unpacking everything at first but once I started to make the place feel more like home the excitement of moving to a new place came back.

I'm attempting to cook meals to freeze in individual portions. We'll see how well it works. So, Wednesday night I got home from work and started to unpack all my kitchen stuff. I had postponed moving those boxes in because one was quite heavy. But we made it work and I was almost done when I realized that I didn't have one VERY vital piece of equipment that every kitchen MUST have.

Who doesn't have a can opener!!! The worst part was that I was in the kitchen aisle at the grocery for about 15 minutes debating on  disposable tins and baking items.

It was delicious....even for lunch the next day.

The New Place

I am really loving the area!! There is every store that you could imagine within a 3 mile radius. LOTS of parks to go walking in and exploring. I can't wait to get settled a bit more and get out!!!

Herbert's Mom turns 30!!

I scheduled the move around my 30th birthday. I knew that it was probably a bad idea to move to Chicago before my birthday and end up spending that BIG birthday in a hotel room with just Herbert and Beau. Can we say whopping depression???

Total weather shock today. It was in the upper 50's yesterday and snow flurries today. Brrrr

We left Atlanta around 9:30 Tuesday morning and headed up to the Windy City.

First sign to CHICAGO!!

We made it and it was quite an adventure over the past few days. We ended up in a VERY bad part of town and drove back towards Indiana. Yesterday was apartment hunting day and we've picked one but we're waiting to hear about a move in date. When we woke up this morning...

It poured and poured overnight in the Chicago area and most of the metro area was under water. I was going to try to get out and about but when the hotel room started to flood we decided to move to a different neighborhood. Now it's just a waiting game and more research for a place to live. It is stressing me out!!

Hello Atlanta!!

We arrived in Atlanta around 10pm on Saturday the 13th. The past two weeks have flown by!!

Herbert enjoyed playing with his cousins, Hattie and Harper. 

Herbert's Mom enjoyed wine and catching up.

The girls loved celebrating my 30th birthday. It was such an awesome day!!!

I totally enjoyed all the attention!! I miss them all already!!! Thanks for such an awesome birthday!!
